The acronym "AMILA" means "to work" or "to act" in Arabic. == Goals == The organization stated goals are spiritual enrichment, intellectual freedom, and community service. Founded by American-born and/or raised Muslims, AMILA was meant to supplement the activities of local mosques and Muslim organizations with events and projects of interest to the American Muslim community.
